Violent Movies and Games

Most psychotherapists and parents have speculated that violent movies and video games lead to adverse behaviors in our younger clients. Validating our concerns is landmark research disseminated by the American Psychological Association: "Craig A. Anderson,Ph.D., a distinguished professor of psychology at Iowa State University, has made much of his life's work studying how violent video game play affects youth behavior. He says a new study, analyzing 130 research reports on more than 130,000 subjects worldwide, proves conclusively that exposure to violent video games makes more aggressive, less caring kids, regardless of age, sex or culture." Taking action includes spreading the results of this landmark research to our clients and colleagues, and as former First Lady of California, Maria Shriver states, becoming architects of change.
